Ep. 8: Kimberly Castello: Practicing & Teaching Yoga With A Chronic Condition

Kimberly is a Certified Yoga Therapist with the International Association of Yoga Therapists (C-IAYT) and an experienced registered yoga teacher (E-RYT 500) with the Yoga Alliance. She earned her credentials after graduating from the Yoga Therapy program at Loyola Marymount University. She gained her Clinical experience working with chronic pain patients at the Simms Mann Venice Family Clinic in Los Angeles, California. She specializes in developing chronic pain management and stress relief programs for individuals, hospitals, and clinics.  Kimberly began teaching yoga in 1999. In 2007, after being diagnosed with a chronic illness, she began exploring the therapeutic and restorative aspects of her yoga practice to complement western medical treatments. She experienced first-hand the depression, anxiety, fatigue, and isolation that accompanies a chronic illness. This led her to become a Yoga Therapist to assist others managing chronic issues.  For 5 years, she led the Wellness program for the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health and developed a Yoga Therapy program for their Multiple Sclerosis patients. She continues to offer accessible yoga and wellness programs for the Multiple Sclerosis Association of America. Kimberly offers virtual chronic pain and mental health Yoga Therapy sessions for Behavioral Health hospitals throughout the country and teaches for the University of Nevada Las Vegas.
